How to enhance

A different look for each category

25 May 2007

If that's what you want - why not. This "arty-farty" category theme uses a background image tile to add a mess of busy colour and texture. Themes change the colour scheme of text and layout by using CSS (cascading style sheets).

Unlike the default design theme, category themes are stored in the themes folder. Two themes have been included in the package: "arty-farty" and "figmince".

Advanced : creating your own themes

Copy a pre-existing Theme folder as the basis for creating new themes. Each theme folder contains the following files:

  • CSS (modifiable style sheet - make changes to heading styles, text colours, object positions and more).

  • images folder containing images specific to this colour theme

  • StyleGuide page to assist tweaking the CSS (otherwise not used by PENpages as a live page.

Note: category icons associated with your theme should be uploaded into the main Category Icons folder (see Category icons tutorial).

Category icons and themes are now selected from an automatically generated drop down list in the admin area :)

Cool, that looks like Flinders St station in Melbourne.
