5. Intermittent saving of blog entries (essential)
2 June 2009
There are many reasons why you will want to intermittently save, then edit or delete a blog entry. In Lesson-4 I explained that your connection to the database may "time-out" before you have completed your entry. If such an event seems likely, it is advisable to take the following precautionary steps.
- After 10-15 minutes select all text in the Entry field and copy (Edit menu/copy) - this will allow you to paste back the text should the database connection be lost.
- Click on the Add Entry button to SAVE your entry to the database.
- If successful, click on Return to Entry Index, AND...
- Click on Update Entry text to return to your unfinished entry and continue writing, OR...
- If unsuccessful, and your Entry has not yet been saved at all, then you will need to create a new entry, THEN...
- Paste the copied text into the Entry field and continue writing.
Remember to save often
All aspects of your blog Entry are editable. If you wish to move the entry to a different category, all the comments associated with the entry will also move with the entry.
If you delete an Entry, comments will be automatically deleted.
