Orally fixated
20 March 2007
There is nothing wrong with being orally fixated. Some people are very hung up about the whole idea of liking food. They relate to this 'loving food' thing as being 'bad'.
Sure, some foods are not that good for you. Overeating is not that good for you, but starving is not so crash hot either.
Being really skinny and shivering in the cold ain't so comfy and being uncomfortably overweight ain't so good either. As always - balance is the ideal - and I do mean balance in a subjective manner.
Enjoying food can be a healthy, pleasurable experience that is about self nurture. It all comes down to taste. Just because something tastes good doesn't mean you should stuff yourself to the point of... stuffing yourself. Better to eat slowly, carefully, savouring every mouthful. This is not only very enjoyable, but aids in the digestion of food, allowing maximum time for the body to utilize the nutritional properties of food. As a consequence - you won't overeat as you will be extremely satisfied.
Speaking objectively, I will add, that extremism is unhealthy in a life-endangering sense.

... and then after waffling on very anally about oral fixations she went and ate my cake with cream and cherry on top! But that's not all - oh no. She then devoured cheese and bikkies, with olives, 4 glasses of red, and some Lindt chocolate.

It was a long afternoon tea - several hours in fact. I savoured, I did!
...meh, what's your problem anyway. Just hurry up with the steak, medium rare please. And don't forget the mushroom gravy.
